July 21 - Baltimore Inner Harbor
Hello
from Baltimore's Inner Harbor. It took us only one hour to get here
yesterday. You can't imagine how many boats area moored here in
multiple huge marinas. There aren't many transients, though, so we got
a space on the city docks which are right by the Visitor's Center in the
middle of all the activity. There are many museums and the National
Aquarium, a square rigger, submarine, and light ship. The Barnes and
Noble store is in the old power plant which provided power for the trolleys
and steam to heat the city. The old smoke stacks are still in place in
the middle of the store. The USS Constitution is moored in the harbor
as shown in the picture below.
We
took a trolley tour of the city- through all the ethnic neighborhoods and
out to Fort McHenry. Michelle Obama was in town to throw out the first
pitch at the Orioles game so we saw her motorcade whiz by.
In the evening there was a tornado watch as some heavy rain went through the area. As it turned out, most of it passed to the south of us. Back to the marina today and we'll get to play some HOT golf tomorrow.
