July 27 - Annapolis (by the Webmaster)
This is the first page on the trip composed by Gerry Flinn, the webmaster. Gayle and I drove to the Baltimore area on Sunday to spend a couple of days visiting with Fred and Joan. They continued to stay on their boat and we stayed at a nearby Hampton Inn. Arriving around dinner time on Sunday we met up with F & J and had a great seafood dinner at the Stoney Creek Inn. We got there too late for steamed crabs, but the crab cakes, hushpuppies, ice cream were great. The picture right shows us enjoying our dinner. This is not a tourist place but a local hangout.
The weather was very hot on Sunday, but cooler (88F) with much less humidity on Monday. Since the bay was a little rough on Monday morning we decided to drive to Annapolis for the day. Since Fred and Joan had done Annapolis they were great tour guides. We took the Naval Academy tour which was most impressive. After that we went to lunch at Pussers on the waterfront, took a short golf cart tour of the downtown, and visited the Maryland state capital building. Being hot and tired we finished afternoon with a drive over the Bay Bridge to eastern shore.
Returning their marina and with the sun setting on the yard arm we had cocktails on the lawn near their mooring. It was a fine day.
